“The Time Is Now” – John Cena

I did like three or four songs on his You Can’t See Me album. My manager at the time met John Cena and sent him some beats. He picked like six of them and paid for all of them. I had a job at the time where I was making about $40,000 a year and he had wrote me a check for like $60,000 for the beats he wanted. I remember just being shocked. It definitely made this music thing a lot more real for me. “The Time Is Now” became his theme music. He still comes out to that record during his wrestling matches. I’ve done a lot of songs, but that’s probably the biggest I’ve ever done, because it’s heard by so many different kinds of people. I don’t have any publishing for that song, so I kind of hate it at the same time [laughs]. When I made that beat I really wanted to get Ghostface Killah on there.
