Thom Browne may be recognized for his cropped suits (and the constant use of red, white, and blue), but besides his gentlemanly clothes, he’s known for staging fashion presentations that are anything but traditional. From an Olympic-sized swimming pool in Milan to a formal meal presentation titled “Dinner From Hell,” we look back on some of our favorites while spending 5 minutes with the talented (and tight-lipped) Mr. Browne.
Life+Times: What is your proudest accomplishment?
Thom Browne: Being able to do what I do for a living.
L+T: What’s your biggest regret?
TB: I have no regrets.
L+T: What is your definition of success?
TB: Being able to do what you like doing for a living.
L+T: What’s the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do before you go to bed?
TB: I usually start the day with a run, and end the day with some Champagne.
L+T: What do you do to relax?
TB: I run.
L+T: What’s the last movie you saw?
TB: Sunset Boulevard.
L+T: What’s your biggest turn on and biggest turn off?
TB: My biggest turn on is confidence, and my biggest turn off is insincerity.
L+T: What songs are currently on your iPod?
TB: I don’t have one.
L+T: What’s your favorite restaurant?
TB: The Four Seasons’ restaurant.
L+T: What’s your idea of luxury?
TB: Being able to do what I do for a living.
L+T: What’s the last book you read?
TB: Washington (The biography on George Washington).
