Orange Skin offers a refreshing approach to contemporary European design. The Chicago-based studio provides a window into the world of top designers in the showroom, with pieces by Italian designers including Magis, Minotti and Voideo. The space is open to the public and design colleges frequently host lectures on-site, with rare objects as a backdrop.

“My job is more of a curatorial position. It’s an extension for me of the belief in what design does and the quality that good design brings to people’s lives,” says co-founder Obi Nwazota. “For me, prior to Orange Skin, I’m trained as an architect and I dabbled in fashion and the whole idea of lifestyle and how it relates to culture with no borders.” Nigerian-born Nwazota gravitates towards unusual materials such as titanium and furniture made from automotive industry parts.

In addition to guiding private clients through designer collections, Orange Skin has consulted for the Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University for Women and furniture for the film The Dark Knight. They are due to contribute to the aesthetic of Masbar City in Dubai. Says Nwazota, “The core principal will always continue to remain, always challenging what is design.” (Orange Skin)
