“When I shot this Machine Gun Kelly was internationally recognized as one of hip hop’s rising stars, and yet I was the only photographer at his concert. I was perplexed by the lack of documentation at his performance, but I was also grateful to have exclusive access to one of the greatest hip hop performers of our time. I view him as a modern manifestation of The Beastie Boys, Nirvana, The Sex Pistols and NWA wrapped into one person. At one point during the concert I found myself in a mosh pit directly beside Kelly and the photograph featured here is one of many that capture the overwhelming volume of energy that he exudes.”
