“Of Chinese Lions, Peonies, Skulls, And Fountains” (2011)
“The Lion is said to be the king of the beasts but according to Chinese legend they do have one fear – a certain parasitic insect. This insect is said to perish if it comes in contact with the night dew from a peony flower and so at sun fall, the lion takes its rest beneath the blossoms of the peonies. This old Buddhist tale confronts us with the question -what to you is a safe haven?”
