“Take You Down” – Chris Brown

“‘Take You Down’ was a song I wrote with the Underdogs and Steve Russell, who used to be the lead singer of Troop, which was awesome. That day was a crazy-ass day. The lights were out, because the power went out in our studio and we had Chris Brown in there working on his second album. We were trying to do a slow jam, because Chris was getting to the age where he could talk about fuckin’. We went in there to not go over the ledge and we came out with something really appropriate. It did really well. I feel like that was Chris Brown’s first public announcement that he was fuckin’. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but I’m proud to be a part of such a force in the world. That was really a fun experience. “Take You Down” was the first time I went to a concert and seen like thousands of people singing some shit that I wrote. That was crazy. I noticed this lady that was there with this like 10-year-old boy and it was no way he was there, because he wanted to see Chris Brown. The little boy was just not giving a fuck about the shit, but when “Take You Down” came on the mom was looking like she was really ready to get took down. That was a dope memory.”
