“Good Kisser” – Usher

“People look at me like I’m crazy when I tell them this, but I literally woke up singing the lyrics, ‘Don’t nobody kiss it like you. Bang, bang, bang.’ I started a quick Google search to find this song that was stuck in my head, so I could go to iTunes and download it, because I really liked the song [laughs]. My bro Ronald “Flip” Colson, who co-produced the record was like ‘I don’t think that’s a song.’ Those lyrics were catchy, so I kept them in the back of my head. That very next day, I must have went to sleep with my iTunes on, because when I woke up Forster Silver‘s “Montego Bay” was playing. Sometimes when you wake up and are half-sleep you say weird shit that you don’t mean to say. I woke up that day saying “Bang, bang, bang” to that “Montego Bay” record. We went to the studio and laid that part down. About six months later we were going through old ideas and we came across that one and decided to finish to it. We played it for RCA’s Mark Pitts and the next day he hit us saying that Usher loved it. Usher then put his spin on it, which made the song a full and finished product. I felt like I had no choice but to go there with the lyrics. I felt like I couldn’t follow something like ‘Don’t nobody kiss it like you. Bang, bang, bang’ up with something lovey dovey. I felt that I had to go all the way. We’re young and we like to have fun, so we come across some girls that are good kissers. This is my ode to them. It just so happened to work, because Usher can relate [laughs].”
