“Arrrgh! Monstres de Mode” Explores Character Design

03.06.2013

ART & DESIGN

Running through April 7th at Parisian museum Gaîté Lyrique, Arrrgh! Monstres de Mode is the first international fashion exhibition of monstrous, radical or grotesque creations inspired by the “character design” phenomenon. The exhibition presents 58 fashion designers and artists with over 80 costumes and installations as one entity – culminating in one piece of art. The most distinctive feature of the exhibition is that the mannequins are not placed on podiums or inside glass windows. Instead, they’ve been placed on floor level, interacting with the museums visitors. The designer’s chosen include Alexander McQueen, Walter Van Beirendonck, Maison Martin Margiela, Issey Miyake, Dai Fujiwara and more.
