It’s called “Dos Cabezos Revisited.” It’s about Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol. Dude did so much at such a young age. Died when he was 27 years old. He’s definitely one of my heroes. Some say Warhol used him. Upon first meeting him, he was like, ‘who is this Black kid with dreads?’ Basquiat ended up being one of the best painters in modern art history, so this is a tributed piece. When they first met, Basqiuat was so geeked that he finally got to meet his hero that he ran to his studio, painted a painting in 20 minutes, had his boy literally carry it across town and take it to Warhol’s spot. By the time it got there it was still wet. Warhol couldn’t do anything but respect him, like, ‘Damn he just did this? He just left. This kid is amazing.’ And the name of that piece was “Dos Cabezas.” It was a large Andy Warhol head and a small Basquiat head, and it depicted the stature of both artists in their careers at the time.
