ART & DESIGN

Jeff Koons is a true superstar of the art world and soon many of the groundbreaking works that have made the visual artist one of contemporary art’s most popular figures will be featured in the Whitney Museum of American Art’s upcoming exhibition, Jeff Koons: A Retrospective.

The collection of more than 120 of Koons’ creations, including several never-before-seen pieces, is being herald as the most comprehensive retrospective to focus solely on the work of the artist. Chronicling each stage of his artistic journey, this will be the first exhibit to fully examine the scope of his over 35-year career.

Jeff Koons: A Retrospective will be Koons’ first large-scale museum presentation in New York and will mark the first time an exhibit featuring the work of one artist will take up so much of the Whitney’s Marcel Breuer building. The museum’s first four floors and its sculpture court are all being utilized for this unprecedented exhibition. This will also be the Whitney’s last major presentation before the museum moves to its new Meatpacking District location in spring of 2015.

Jeff Koons: A Retrospective will be on view from June 27th until October 19th. Following its New York unveiling, it will travel to Paris’ Centre Pompidou. More information on the exhibit can be found here.
