The Reference 6538/1A Submariner on a “Regimental” NATO

The man that can be credited with unwittingly starting the NATO trend on vintage Rolex is none other than Mr. James Bond. Sean Connery wore an early Submariner (Ref 6538/1A) on a regimental NATO of black, red, and olive stripes way back in 1962’s Dr. No, the very first Bond flick. It should be noted that for years watchnerds believed Bond’s strap to be simply black and grey, but the clarity brought about by modern-technology allowed us to see Bond’s true colors.
