For most of us, photography is often the byproduct of our recreational environment. This often entails classic photos of BBQs, concerts, and holidays. But what if you could make a career out of capturing and selling the “holiday”? Meet 26-year-old Gray Malin, a Los Angeles based photographer who travels the world, shooting some of the most famous beaches and pools from a perspective few will ever see. From Sydney to Rio and St. Tropez, Gray has spent the past four years finding symmetry, beauty, and range in a series of dynamic collections titled “A La Plage, A La Piscine.”Here, he walks us through some of his favorite images…
“This beach was a total surprise. We flew about 20 minutes south of Rio’s main beaches, Ipanema/Copacabana to Barra de Tijuca beach and this little gem was snuggled in all by it’s lonesome near Rio’s largest Favela (slums) which rested high on the sloping cliffs.”
