Respect The Shooter: Gray Malin

For most of us, photography is often the byproduct of our recreational environment. This often entails classic photos of BBQs, concerts, and holidays. But what if you could make a career out of capturing and selling the “holiday”? Meet 26-year-old Gray Malin, a Los Angeles based photographer who travels the world, shooting some of the most famous beaches and pools from a perspective few will ever see. From Sydney to Rio and St. Tropez, Gray has spent the past four years finding symmetry, beauty, and range in a series of dynamic collections titled “A La Plage, A La Piscine.”Here, he walks us through some of his favorite images…

“This beach was a total surprise. We flew about 20 minutes south of Rio’s main beaches, Ipanema/Copacabana to Barra de Tijuca beach and this little gem was snuggled in all by it’s lonesome near Rio’s largest Favela (slums) which rested high on the sloping cliffs.”
