“I recently shot this at Toronto Frosh Festival 2014 for HipHopCanada. A$AP Ferg is one of many artists I have worked with whose on-stage persona is profoundly more loud and aggressive than his day-to-day demeanor. As I photographed him, I wondered if he was the same person that I saw incite hundreds of people to come on stage with him at Tattoo in Toronto during the North By Northeast Festival only a few months earlier. Shooting a portrait session with Ferg was fun and easy and he was particularly interested in reviewing the shots that I took of him. I interviewed Ferg soon after his performance with the rest of A$AP Mob and after spending about 6 hours with them, I developed a new found respect for the Mob’s work ethic and knowledge of hip hop culture.”
