“I took these shots of DJ Whoo Kid in Toronto on his birthday. Whoo Kid and I share the same Haitian ancestry, and he has been one of my favorite mixtape DJs since I was 14. Both my long standing appreciation of the artist’s work and his G-Unit affiliation were reasons enough to be excited to learn more about him. Whoo Kid is a prolific bowler and shooting him at a Bowlerama was a great idea on the part of Hozeah Massiah – the publisher and founder of Swagg News, who commissioned me for the shoot. Whoo Kid did everything to accommodate my intimate shooting style and I was grateful to capture him during an activity that allowed him to creatively flow in a way that was similar to his DJ sets.”
