“No matter how good you think you are, someone is right there waiting to show you up,” says US rapper Knytro regarding the inspiration behind his latest track, “Status Quo.” Knytro’s fluid, gritty rhymes and stirring zealous message coupled with electro-soul rhythms makes this record anything but “status quo.” This latest track is taken from his debut mixtape, Project Haarpoon. BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe has praised Knytro for Project Haarpoon and even stated that he had the mixtape “on repeat.” 2014 will be a busy year for Knytro. In January, the MTA Records signee (owned and founded by Chase & Status) will support The Game on his UK tour. A new EP is slated to be released spring 2014.

Director Drew Cox – who shot Knytro’s music video for his debut track “Still Standing” – was again the mastermind of choice for “Status Quo.” Knytro states, “I was so impressed with the first video that it only made sense for him [Drew Cox] to shoot this one too. Working with this guy is like cake – always good. Everything seems to run exceptionally smoother with each take shot. Love ‘em like family.”
