In continuation of last year’s omnipresence of artists hailing from the UK – the likes of Sam Smith, Little Simz, FKA twigs are examples – the start of 2015 brings another wave of British talent. The reflective and vulnerable rhymes of Essex lyricist, Nick Brewer, come from a sincere place. Last year, Nick’s top notch artistry landed him a record deal with Island Records. While Nick is no Drake or Childish Gambino, his spoken words and production can be identified as a distinct fingerprint in a music world marred by imitation.
Here, Life + Times premieres the visual for the single, “Jet Li,” taken from Nick’s newest The Warning Light EP (out now on Island Records).
“My latest EP, The Warning Light, was a really exciting process for me – linking up with some other rising artists from the UK, as well as Tink from Chicago, who is really making great waves in the US, was a really humbling experience. Mixing cultures and sounds is what this project is all about and I feel that this track, “Jet Li,” definitely embodies that,” says Brewer.
The Warning Light is available on iTunes here.
