BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend went down this past weekend east of London, kicking off a month long musical celebration leading up to the 2012 Summer Olympics. Dubbed “Hackney Weekend,” the festival is a free event for local residents, with a suggested charitable donation of approximately $15. Over 100 acts appeared on Hackney Marsh’s five stages, from Jack White, Eric Prydz, Kanye West, Swedish House Mafia, and Rihanna to Florence + The Machine, Santigold, Lana Del Rey, and JAY Z. Here Life+Times documents an exclusive look at the weekend.
