“Sometimes when you’re doing joints you overwhelm yourself and you forget what you have in your stash. Sometimes it takes someone else to say “What about that other beat?” for you to be reminded of what you got. That was one that slipped my mind. It was just something that I had. We were in Hawaii and I was playing [Kanye] a few beats. Fat Joe’s “Pride N Joy,” Hit-Boy’s “JAY Z Interview” and John Legend’s “Who Do We Think We Are” were all in that batch. It was a good batch of joints that I had given him. I thought I had played him everything, but one day in the studio he heard the beat playing through my laptop speakers. He was like “What’s that? Let me hear it on the big speakers.” He went straight in the booth after that. The line “She love Jesus, but you done learned a lot from Satan” was the first line he came up with. It was dope. It was like it was meant to be. That’s actually a beat that I lost a beat battle with. I got eliminated with that beat. I guess people weren’t really ready for it at the time.”
