ART & DESIGN
Design firm Yabu Pushleberg, founded by George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, is at the pulse of creating the vision and subsequent spaces for some of the world’s leading brands, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Their focus ranges from retail to hospitality to restaurants, and has attracted clients like Lane Crawford, W Hotel properties, and highly visual eateries. With four homes around the globe, we ventured into their West Village brownstone and had them fill us in on some of their favorite pieces they’ve collected to help make their Perry Street house into a home.
The three Mao heads made in replication of Chairman Mao. While we were designing for Lane Crawford in Beijing, China, we were going through big industrial buildings that have been converted into art galleries and came across the Gao brothers. After giving us a personal tour of their art and gallery, we found the Chairman Mao heads hidden in the back.
