ART & DESIGN

Last week, New York City became a lot more fashionable thanks to the new headquarters from one of the Internet’s premiere online empires. The NET-A-PORTER GROUP, comprised of NET-A-PORTER, THE OUTNET and MR PORTER (check of the Life+Times profile on its Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Langmead here), took up residence in the Big Apple. The 5th Avenue space reflects the brand throughout, with sleek monochrome furnishings and glass walled space – designed with a Parisian apartment in mind. Their Manhattan digs includes a serene reception area with high gloss bespoke furniture and ornate ceiling details (“sampled” from NET-A-PORTER’S previous home under the domed ceiling of London’s Whiteleys shopping Centre) – creating a classical yet contemporary structure that was shaped by design firm StudioFibre. So, in celebration of your new space, here’s our official admiration for the icon, the founder, the innovator and the woman behind it all – Natalie Massenet.
