“Every song is told from the first person except “Secrets Seem Rehearsed.” I wanted to take a step out, like, ‘Look at what these people are doing. I don’t know where this is going, but this is where it is.’ That track is a little more square, I think, it’s not as free as some of the other ones. But after hearing all of the first person tracks, you get to that one and it feels a little different. It has some African cross-rhythms, so there’s a different vibe.”
