“The tension comes from the [drum machine.] We noticed that early on when we first started playing. The bands we’ve been in before… you kind of realized how much you speed up—there’s these crescendos when you get to a chorus and the drummer holds it back. You just get us two sitting in a room and this metronome kind of drum loop—just ‘same, same, same, same’—and you realize you’re getting this static electricity building up almost from the tension of holding back and I just love that, really love that. I love songs being a tiny little bit too slow.” – Hince
