Uttanasana – “forward bend”

Before I sing, I do some kind of forward bend. There are many variations of this pose, but just the basic act of bowing my head below my waist and moving the blood flow is invigorating and releasing. This pose eases tension or stress I might have in my head, neck and shoulders, and feels amazing on the spine and back of my legs. It stimulates the mind, and benefits our internal organs. Often I will flutter my lips and hum from my lowest note to my highest note, to completely release all stress and strain in my body, and surrender my mind to being present in the moment, accepting and allowing my voice, and the music to flow through me.”
