Queen Underwood, Boxing
The 28-year-old boxer was on the outside looking in; losing a one-point decision that cost her an opportunity to appear in the very first women’s tournament in Olympic history. Then, last month, she finally got the call that she’d been desperately awaiting. Underwood was awarded an at-large place in the lightweight division, a sensible decision, as she is a five-time national champion. The maiden women’s tournament will have three events, fly, middle and lightweight.
