The opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics is less then 24 hours away and athletes from across the globe have descended upon London for their chance at Gold. Here, Life + Times previews the top athletes the United States has deployed to represent old Glory.
John Orozco, Gymnast
A Bronx, NY native, 19-year-old John Orozco needed to make a move to an elite gym in Chappaqua, a ritzy northern suburb of New York, in order to develop into a premiere talent. Unable to afford the cost, six of his family members became employees of the facility to help pay his enrollment. The family’s sacrifice paid off. Orozco went pro in 2009 after a stunning performance at the junior national championships. Since then he’s enjoyed success on the highest level, and is now on the verge of inspiring the world in London.
