The Deal: Looking for cash to finance the musical No, No, Nanette, Red Sox owner Harry Frazee traded baseball’s greatest player, Babe Ruth, to the New York Yankees for $100,000 plus a $300,000 loan in 1920.

The Impact: Ruth hit 665 of his 714 career homeruns for the Yanks, including 54 in his first season in the Bronx. He led the Yankees to seven World Series appearances and four titles, and help to spawn the greatest dynasty in the history of professional sports.
