LeBron James’ flights of fantasy in the Miami Heat’s 89-86 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, is all the more reason why he should enter the Sprite Slam Dunk contest.

In a display of sheer athleticism and creativity, after intercepting a pass intended for Kirk Hinrich, James accelerated in the open court and soared to the rim, hamming down a ridiculous 360 degree two-handed jam. What made the play so spectacular was that James didn’t overexert himself while performing the improvised slam. It was effortless. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as ‘Bron is a freakish athlete molded in the shape of a basketball god. We expect and want him to entertain us with his acrobatic jams. But what we do want, expect…hell, what we’re damn near begging for, is LeBron to go up against his fellow gravity-defying peers and battle it out, the same way Jordan and Dominique entertained us back in the day.

For now, we can only satisfy our appeal through these regular-season exhibitions, but should King James ever decide to take his talents and enter the slam dunk contest; the question remains, would he have enough in his arsenal to defeat former dunk champ Blake Griffin? Only LeBron can provide the answer. (Photo)

Listen, I keep saying it over and over again.

Blake Girffin + LeBron James + Russell Westbrook + Derrick Rose = best slam dunk ever

I might even put my money on Westbrook.

How about Lebron, Blake Griffin, Andre Iguodala and Josh Smith? That would be the most creative contest.
Although, Rose and Westbrook are known for attacking the rim, I’m not sure if they the creativity to compete against ‘Bron or B.Grif.
