ART & DESIGN
Borne from the love of yesteryear and things past, the minds behind soccer-enthusiast brand Bumpy Pitch (and its lifestyle site The Original Winger) created a series of vintage-inspired New York City subway roll sign artwork. The line, which is sold under the brand Flying Junction, uses the same typography and design-cues of signs from early 1900′s New York City subway signage.
“We wanted to explore a part of the history of the city and its boroughs,” says co-founder Benjamin Hooper about the art. Hooper, along with his team took painstaking care to preserve the look and feel of the original roll signs. “We re-created each letter from from scratch to ensure that the lettering was true to how it was on the [original] subway roll signs,” he continues.
Priced from $20-$130 depending in size, each piece is printed with soy-based ink on recycled paper or canvas, and are available here.
