Derrick Rose, Class of ‘08
Chicago native Derrick Rose put his hometown franchise back on the map, when he was drafted No.1 overall in 2003. An explosive combination of speed, power, athleticism and grace, the 6’3 point guard became the first guard since Allen Iverson and the youngest player to ever win the league’s MVP award in 2011. He joined Michael Jordan as the only Chicago Bulls player to win the honor. Although, the three-time All-Star’s postseason was cut short due to a torn ACL, the 23-year-old Rose is not done building a name for himself in the NBA.
