“Raves are the progressive rock concerts of the ‘70s…” – this statement of Alec Empire (Atari Teenage Riot) was written on the inner sleeve of this 1997 compilation which includes tracks from Atari, Bomb20, EC80R, [and] Shizuo. We have grown up listening to Aphex [Twin] and early jungle tunes, which were circulating on cassette tapes when Internet didn’t even exist. Rave meetings in abandoned buildings and dark forests have been influencing both our sound and our aesthetic vision through years and for sure have developed our feel for in-order-to-dance music.
